Because I’ve spent many years in customer service and the hospitality industry here in Hawaii, I’m often asked for recommendations for things to do, places to eat, and where to stay. It’s fun for me to point someone to my favorite market, restaurant, or a hotel I had a great experience with. As a traveler, I often find these times of “insider tips” useful in planning my trip. Here’s a list of some of my favorite things, both in Hawaii and beyond.
Shop Local – I’ve got a page here of all of my favorite Hawaii-based small businesses.
Go Visit Hawaii – Sheila Beal continually amazes me with her quality content and her love for Hawaii.
A Maui Blog – Liza does a great job of sharing what it’s like to live on Maui. I moved to Oahu in 2001 so I do miss Maui!
Maui Country Farm Tours – Marilyn does a variety of tours on Maui, including visiting my hometown of Upcountry. I love that they now offer a West Maui coffee tour as well!
Writing Prompts for Bloggers – My friend Doniree Walker has a set up two programs of writing prompts for bloggers, writers, or anyone looking for some weekly inspiration. Check them out here. Doniree is also my “fairy blogmother” who help me set up the hosting for this blog.
WildJunket – Nellie Huang is the editor of this amazing online travel magazine, the photos an stories are so gorgeous that I guarantee that you will want to travel to the exotic and far-off locales described! A year’s subscription (6 issues) is only $14.95. The current issue can be previewed here.
