Whenever I travel, I always try to be conscious of supporting local businesses and restaurants whenever possible. This helps keep tourism dollars circulating in the communities where I’ve been lucky enough to spend time. Here are a few of my favorite local artists, crafters, friends… Support small businesses!

Kimi Werner – Kimi is one of my best friends and one of the most talented people you’ll ever meet. Visit her website for beautiful original artwork, hand-painted trucker hats, inspirational signs and more. She is also an award winning spear diver and chef – look for a cookbook to be coming out soon…

[ki-ele] – Local designer Marylea Conrad won me over with her ocean-inspired handcrafted jewelry. Her new kiki beach line is also budget friendly!

Wailani Jewelry – Beautiful jewelry and home decor made by my friend Jessica. She personally collects the shells and sea glass and creates beautiful works of art with them!

Red Pineapple – Nalani Holliday owns this treasure trove of a shop in Ward Centers. Whenever I need a gift, I go here because you can count on being able to find something really special for just about anyone on your list! They also do gift baskets, wedding favors, and mail orders.

Adoboloco – Made in small batches on Maui using simple ingredients, these sauces are addictive! I’ve tried just about all of them – Jalapeno, Habanero, Bangkok (Thai Chili Peppers). I’m waiting for the ghost pepper sauce, which is only made once in a while… The clean design makes them great for gift giving too.

Filthy Farmgirl – This line of soaps is hand made on the Big Island and features witty packaging in a variety of flavors! The soaps themselves are all natural, vegan-friendly and smell great. This was one of my favorite items that I brought home to friends and family.

ArtsyFartz – I visited the Hilo Farmers Market and came across this awesome jewelry shop. Love the creativity.
